  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tsp baking powder

How to Make Sponge cake

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Sponge cake in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Beat eggs in mixing bowl with paddle attachment for 4 minutes. Dont skip this step.
  • Step 2
  • Add sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy for 4-5 minutes. Add vanilla and stir on low until just combined.
  • Step 3
  • In a seperate bowl sift dry ingredients. Add them to the eggs and sugar and mix on low until just combined.
  • Step 4
  • In a saucepan on low heat melt butter in milk. Add the butter mixture to the batter until just combined.
  • Step 5
  • Pour into greased and floured 8" or 9" cake pans. Bake at 325°F until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean or middle springs back when touched. NB cakes are almost ready when u start to smell them
  • Step 6
  • Remove from oven and allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes. Turn onto wire cooling rack and allow to cool completely. Decorate as desired and enjoy!
