  • 4 pounds frozen octopus, thawed
  • 14 oz stewed tomatoes
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons capers
  • 10 klamata olives
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • salt if necessary
  • crusty bagette bread toasted

How to Make Stewed octopus

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 2 steps you must follow to make Stewed octopus in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Combine all ingredients except salt and bread in pot, bring to a boil then simmer covered for an hour, poke octopus with fork, if fork slides in easily it's done, if not simmer for another 30 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • Remove octopus and cut into bite size pieces, taste sauce, if necessary add salt. Add octopus back to sauce, serve with warm crusty bread and top with parmesan cheese if you like, enjoy!
