  • 250 ml golden syrup
  • 250 grams regular flour

  • 20 grams cacao powder
  • 1 egg
  • 150 ml milk
  • dash salt
  • 1 Icing sugar for dusting

    Step 1
  • In a pan, melt the butter and syrup together on a low heat, stir occasionally. When melted, remove from the heat and add the chocolate either in pieces or roughly chopped.
  • Step 2
  • Mix together the dry ingredients.
  • Step 3
  • Add the milk and the egg to the dry ingredients and combine it slightly.
  • Step 4
  • Add your butter-syrup-chocolate mix to the flour mix and stir together.
  • Step 5
  • Line a bread pan with parchment papper and pour in your chocolate mixture.
  • Step 6
  • Bake your cake at 170°F celsius (338 F) for 35 minutes. Then cover your cake with aluminium foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Step 7
  • Take out your cake and let it cool completely before lifting it out of the bread pan. Then dust with icing sugar and enjoy!
