  • 1/2 kg meat, chopped to cubes
  • 2 handfuls kale, finely cut
  • 1 teaspoon royco
  • garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 7 large tomatoes, cut to pieces
  • 1 large onion, 1 small onion, chopped
  • coriander, chopped
  • to taste salt & pepper
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Sukuma wiki (kale) with stew in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Boil the meat in water and add some oil. This will let the oil to start frying the meat after the water evaporates
  • Step 2
  • After the water evaporates, let the meat fry for about 7 minutes. Add onions, and fry till golden brown. Then add 5 chopped tomatoes and continue frying till it forms a thick paste
  • Step 3
  • Add 1 teaspoon of royco, add garlic powder, teaspoon of tumeric, salt and pepper to taste
  • Step 4
  • Add very little water. The idea is that the stew should be thick. Add chopped coriander. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Step 5
  • Now for the kale, put two tablespoons of oil in a pan in medium heat. When the oil heats up, add 1 small chopped onions and fry till golden brown. Then, add the kales and fry till they reduce in size.
  • Step 6
  • Add 2 large chopped tomatoes, and continue frying. Add some salt and royco to taste. Simmer for two minutes and it will be ready.
  • Step 7
  • Serve them in either one bowl or separate, with rice or ugali
