  • 2 lb beef or bison
  • 1 onion (smaller)
  • 2 sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup celery (2-3 stalks)
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 2 cup chicken broth
  • 4 cloves garlic (chopped fine)
  • 1 bay leaves (optional)
  • 1 tbsp ghee, butter, or coconut oil
  • Toppings
  • 1 cilantro (fresh)
  • 1 avocado

How to Make Sweet Potato Chili (Whole30)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 15 steps you must follow to make Sweet Potato Chili (Whole30) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Place the dutch oven (or large pot with lid) on medium low heat and melt the fat (butter, ghee...)
  • Step 2
  • Dice up the onions (not too fine). Dice the celery 1/2 to 1 cup. Dice the garlic.
  • Step 3
  • Throw the onions in the pot
  • Step 4
  • As the onions lightly brown, Combine all the spices in a bowl and set aside

  • Peal & Chop the sweet potatoes into 1 inch pieces or less

  • Add the meat and diced garlic. Completely brown the meat

  • Strain the diced tomatoes can, then add (the broth is liquid enough)

  • Add the 3 tbs of tomato paste to thicken
  • Step 9
  • Add the 2 cups of broth
  • Step 10
  • Add the spices and mix well!
  • Step 11
  • Cover and bring to low boil (takes about 5 minutes)
  • Step 12
  • Turn heat down to low
  • Step 13
  • Add the chopped sweet potatoes and diced celery...mix
  • Step 14
  • Cover and simmer for at least 40 minutes; stir the pot a couple times during
  • Step 15
  • Add the chopped cilantro and avocado fresh when serving.
