  • 3 clove garlic, chopped or sliced thin
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 1 packages tomato puree
  • basil, chopped or dried basil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
  • seasonings, salt and pepper
  • parmesan cheese

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Tangy Tomato Macaroni in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Boil Macaroni in enough water, with a pinch of salt. Add some olive oil to the water to prevent the pasta from sticking.
  • Step 2
  • Cook pasta till al dente. Drain the pasta. Keep aside the pasta water for later use.
  • Step 3
  • In a pan, add olive oil. Add the chopped garlic and onion. Cook till onion begins to sweat. Add a pinch of salt to speed the cooking.
  • Step 4
  • When onion begins to appear transparent, add the tomatoes. Cook for a few minutes. Then add the purée. Cook for a minute.
  • Step 5
  • Add the pasta water and let it boil, for a minute or two.
  • Step 6
  • Add Macaroni,chopped basil leaves or dried basil (according to availability), seasonings, and grated cheese. Mix well.
