Ingredients: Tom Yum soup

  • 5 cup water
  • 3 shallots finely chopped
  • 2 stalks of lemongrass bruise cut into 1 inch segments
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp fresh minced ginger
  • 20 medium shrimp shelled but with tail left on
  • 1 can straw mushrooms (my favorite) drained
  • 3 tsp sliced kaffir lime leaves or lime zest
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 Thai chili peppers or grove peppers seeded and minced

How to Make Tom Yum soup

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 3 steps you must follow to make Tom Yum soup in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • in a medium sized soup pot add water, shallots, lemongrass, fish sauce, and ginger bring to boil then simmer 3 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • add shrimp and straw mushrooms and cook till shrimp turns pink. stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Step 3
  • cover and remove from heat let steep for 5-10 minutes then serve.
