Ingredients: Tomato rice

  • 1 cup basmati rice(u can use any other rice)
  • 2 large ripe red tomatoes(chopped)
  • 2 medium onions(thinly sliced)
  • 3 medium green chillies(sliced in large pieces)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 inch cinamon stick
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 salt to taste
  • 1 3/4 cup water(or according to ur measurement & preference of rice)

How to Make Tomato rice

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Tomato rice in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • add water,bay leaf,cinamon stick to rice & cook it in either a pressure cooker or in a saucepan(discard the bay leaf & cinamon stick after cookin rice)
  • Step 2
  • heat oil in a frying pan!!when the oil is hot add the cumin seeds
  • Step 3
  • when the cumin starts to crackle add the chillies and onions!!!fry the onions till they start to turn golden!!
  • Step 4
  • now add the turmeric powder,coriander powder and salt to the onions!!!!sprinkle a little water so that the spices dont burn!!!
  • Step 5
  • fry for a minute & then add the tomatoes & sugar!!!!fry the tomatoes till they turn soft
  • Step 6
  • now add the cooked rice & mix well!!!!heat a bit!!!
  • Step 7
  • add the garam masala!!!mix again!!!remove from pan & serve immediately!!!
