Ingredients: Turkey Chalupa

  • chalupa
  • 1 lb 99 % lean ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 clove minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup small diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup small diced red bell pepper. Seeded and veins removed
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can mild green chilis, 4 ounce size
  • 1/2 cup salsa verde
  • 2 tbsp fresh chopped cilantro

How to Make Turkey Chalupa

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Turkey Chalupa in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In large skillet on medium heat, place oil and get it hot.Cook turkey meat, breaking apart as you cook it but like it get a golden color. You can achieve this by stirring occasionally. Be careful though not to burn.
  • Step 2
  • Add in all other ingredients and set to low simmering for 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
  • Serve with optional shredded lettuce and diced tomato on top. I also like to scoop it with baked tortilla chips and eat like an appetizer. Sour cream,cheese or even guacamole would be fantastic on top too but adds to calorie count!
