Ingredients: Turkish Delight

  • 4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp rose water
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar

How to Make Turkish Delight

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 12 steps you must follow to make Turkish Delight in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Make sugar syrup. 1 1/2 cups of water, add lemon juice & sugar & bring to a boil.
  • Step 2
  • boil & stir using candy thermometer until it reaches 240°F Fahrenheit
  • Step 3
  • Turn off heat.
  • Step 4
  • In another pot use 2 cups of water & add cream of tartar & corn flour. whisk to get the lumps outs, then beat while bringing it to a boil. Whip it into a gluey paste and turn off heat.
  • Step 5
  • Add sugar syrup slowly a bit at a time to mixture & beat it until all sugar syrup is used.
  • Step 6
  • scrape sides sown with a spatula
  • Step 7
  • bring to a gentle boil (medium heat) while stirring. Once boiling, turn heat down to simmer for one hour. Stir frequently.
  • Step 8
  • Turn off heat & add rose water
  • Step 9
  • line 8 x 8 pan with oil & baking paper. pour in mixture and let cool completely. about 5 hours
  • Step 10
  • sift 1 cup powdered sugar & 1/4 cup of corn starch into a large bowl.
  • Step 11
  • Dust the turkish delight with icing sugar. Turn out onto a surface dusted liberally with icing sugar. remove the baking paper. cut slab of turkish delight into squares using a pizza cutter or lightly oiled knife. Put the squares of turkish delight into bowl of icing sugar & mix well.
  • Step 12
  • store in Tupperware. do not refrigerate.
