  • 1 lb (454 gr) dry green lentils ( I used Goya brand)
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Finely Chopped carrots
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 clove Garlic
  • 1 cup Low sodium Chicken broth
  • Water
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Dry mint
  • 1 tbsp Tomato paste

How to Make Turkish Style Green Lentils

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Turkish Style Green Lentils in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Wash your lentils, soak in hot water until you finish with onion and carrots
  • Step 2
  • Chop your onion , heat 1 spoon oil in a deep pot, stir until onion until change its color, add one spoon of tomato paste, stir.
  • Step 3
  • Add your carrot continue stirring, add lentils, about 3 minutes
  • Step 4
  • Add your broth, boil some water in a kettle, add water until over lentils, ( reserve some water in kettle we may need more water later , ) add your salt and pepper and mint, stir . take a spoon and taste, if you need more salt add more.
  • Step 5
  • You let lentils boil , until soften, about 20 minutes, in this point you may taste , to check tenderness . If soft and need some water add more. After that You are done!
