  • 4 skinless chicken breasts
  • 200 grams soft brown sugar
  • 160 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 60 ml 'Sprite' - check my homemade recipe listed!
  • 3 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 2 tbsp my soy-free soy sauce, recipe also on my profile
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 red pepper flakes to taste

    Step 1
  • Ready a crockpot, slowcooker, or preheat your oven on it's lowest setting
  • Step 2
  • Put the chicken in a casserole dish / crockpot etc
  • Step 3
  • Mix together the sugar, vinegar, Sprite, garlic and soy
  • Step 4
  • Pour over the chicken, cover and cook for 6 - 8 hours on low
  • Step 5
  • When the time is up, remove the chicken and keep warm on plates in the oven
  • Step 6
  • Mix the cornstarch & water together then add to the sauce
  • Step 7
  • Bring the sauce to boil and let it reduce down into a glaze
  • Step 8
  • Remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes then pour over the chicken and top with a sprinkling of red pepper flakes
  • Step 9
  • Great served over rice or noodles
