  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 slice sourdough bread
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1/2 onion, sliced and cooked to caramelize
  • 8 slice american cheese
  • 4 slice swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp Thousand Island Dressing
  • 1 tbsp Russian Dressing

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Yummy Frisco Melts in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat skillet to medium to medium high heat. I love iron skillet for these to get a good sear on them.
  • Step 2
  • Slice onions into rings or half moon shapes, or can chop also. Saute on medium low heat in a tablespoon or so of butter, stirring occationally until soft and caramelized. When done, set aside on paper towel to drain.
  • Step 3
  • Roll meat about golf ball size
  • Step 4
  • Add 2 to 3 balls to hot skillet. Meat should start sizzling.
  • Step 5
  • Let sear for 1 minute and flip over. Using spatula, flip over and smash patties until thinned and flat.
  • Step 6
  • Cook until almost done. Flip once more and add Swiss to one patty and American cheese to another. Cover pan until cheeses melt.
  • Step 7
  • For Frisco sauce just mix together the 2 dressings.
  • Step 8
  • Spread softened butter on sourdough bread and grill or toast each side. Spread Frisco sauce on each slice.
  • Step 9
  • Add caramelized onions and patties to toasted bread. Serve hot.
